To become a teacher
Your job as a teacher means:
You provide homework for 6 weeks on your blog. You may work in advanced but mind you, you will have to hand it in on time so everyone still has time to make their homework in the same week. We strive to have homework assignments up on monday, if not possible the latest would be wednesday and in case of any longterm leave, there should be a notice.
You grade the homework making the student feel appreciated for handing in their work and motivate them for the next week.
Ask them questions about their work if possible. Kids are not obliged to do the homework, so when they do hand it in they will want the teacher to have seen it and want to know if they did well or not. Comment on their homework blog or PM if non VIP.
Make your class fun, think of fieldtrips when making homework too, make it interesting, challenging and educationable.
Try to avoid making the same homework as the year before. Introductions in the first week don't have to be the same every time.
I trust you to treat every child with respect despite private issues that might be going on. Always talk to me in any case of problem that may occur. If a child or parent contacts you about a problem or maybe a suggestion, I would like to be informed.
Before you apply, think if you are up to the job, kids need to be motivated and you can't slack your homeworks even if maybe noone hands anything in. You still have to be on time for the next. Are you up for a teaching job for a couple of years?
We want a teacher we can build on and will at least make a full school year.
A good idea would be to talk to one of the current teachers we have, ask about the job details.
If you are really interested in a teaching career then fill in the application form.
You may always apply, you will receive a reply as fast as possible. If we have enough teachers for the next year, we will keep you in our system and might contact you again when a teacher leaves. You do not have to stay in London to be able to teach.
Minimum age to become a teacher is 18.
Yours sincerely,
The Minister of Education,
Stijn Squier
